"When do the gates open?"
Festival hours are from 5 - 11 p.m. Friday, April 24 and Noon - 11 p.m. Saturday, April 25.
"Where is the festival held?"
Real. Texas. Festival. takes place at Rodeo Center and the surrounding property. The physical address is 1818 Rodeo Drive, Mesquite, TX 75149.
"What is included in the price of my festival ticket?"
You will have access to the entire festival grounds, including the concerts, car show, BBQ contest and your tickets include entrance to the Mesquite Rodeo.
"Who's playing on the Main Stage?"
Music will be a big part of the Real. Texas. Festival. Click here for a full list of Main Stage Entertainment.
"What should I bring?"
You can bring lawn chairs, blankets, strollers, sunscreen and bug spray. Remember to check the weather before you leave your house and dress accordingly.
"What should I leave at home?"
No outside coolers will be allowed, as well as weapons of any kind (firearms, knives, martial arts weapons, etc.). Bags and purses may be subject to search upon entering and re-entering the festival. Please don't bring skateboards, scooters, inline skates, personal transport vehicles or other small, transport devices. Recording the concerts is strictly prohibited and any form of illegal narcotics or contraband will not be allowed inside the festival gates. No pets will be allowed inside the venue, except for service animals for disabled persons. No alcoholic beverages will be allowed to be brought into, or taken out of, the festival gates.
"If I'm staying at the hotel, will I be able to park close to the festival?"
Yes, the Hampton Inn and Suites is the host hotel of the Real. Texas. Festival. The hotel and convention center will be open for regular business.
"What it if it rains?"
The Real. Texas. Festival. is a rain or shine event. In the case of inclement weather, the festival's emergency management plan will be activated. The event will be altered and the general admission parking may not be available because of the wet conditions. In the case of a sudden weather event during the festival hours, stage announcements will be made with specific instructions for evacuation or where to go to ride out the storm.
"Can I buy or sample barbecue from the Taste of Mesquite Barbecue Contest?"
No. The barbecue competition is just that; a competition and the food that is being prepared is for competitive purposes only. The cooks are generally one or two-person operations that don't plan on bringing massive amounts of meat to feed the festival crowd.
"Can I leave the festival and come back later?"
Re-entry to the festival grounds is permitted with an approved hand-stamp from a gate attendant. However, the hand stamp will not transfer from day to day.
"Will tickets be required this year?"
Tickets will not be required for food or beverages. Carnival rides, inflatables, pony rides, petting zoo, air brush tattoos and make & take crafts will require either an all-inclusive wristband or tickets. Wristbands are $20 and are good the entire day of purchase.
"How much do rides and activities cost?"
They vary - from $2 - $6. Midway games and activities in the La Plaza area are cash only.
"How much does the food cost?"
Food prices vary from concessionaire to concessionaire-pop corn is about $3.00 and a hamburger could cost $5.00 and a Wurst Deep Fried Reuben is $10.00.
"How much do drinks cost?"
Soft drinks will cost $3.00 and beer will cost around $6.00.
"What time will the ticket booths close?"
Ticket booths will close at 10:30 p.m.
"What time will the Kids Korral close?"
All lines will begin closing around 7:30 p.m. to ensure everyone gets to enjoy the activity before the area closes at 8:00 p.m.
"What time will the concessionaires close?"
Concessionaires will close at 11:00 p.m. However, beer sales will end promptly at 10:15 p.m.
"Where can I park?"
There is plenty of free general admission areas immediately north of the festival grounds weather permitting. . Click here for directions
"Are there shuttle busses?"
Yes, you can park for free at West Mesquite High School and Memorial Stadium and catch a shuttle bus to the festival, with drop off being at the main gate. Busses will begin running at 4:00 p.m. on Friday and at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The last bus will leave the Real. Texas. Festival at 12:00 a.m.
"Where do volunteers park?"
Volunteers can park in the free general admission parking areas immediately north of the festival grounds (weather permitting) or at Memorial Stadium and ride the shuttle to the festival.
"Where do concessionaires, vendors, entertainers and VIPs park?"
Festival parking is available on the west and south lots of Mesquite Arena. Only those cars with a Reserved Parking Pass will be allowed past the barricades.
"Where are...The restrooms? Lost children/parents tent? Kids Korral? Main Stage? Police Tent? Shuttle Lines? Vendors or Concessionaires? Check-in? Ticket Booths?"
