The deadline for the 2013 Real. Texas. Festival. Battle of the Bands is April 15, 2013 – it’s a ways off. But with only six performance slots, competition will be fierce and local high school “garage” bands will want to get their entry forms in well before the deadline to be considered for a performance slot.
The festival is looking for six of the best high school bands around to compete for cash and prizes … as well as an opportunity to become part of the 2013 Real. Texas. Festival. entertainment lineup. The competition will still take place Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 1:20 p.m. on the Mesquite Arena Stage.
Performance slots will not be awarded on a first come-first served basis. All entries will be auditioned by a festival panel and only the best 6 will be invited to perform. There will be a couple of alternates selected in the event one of the performers selected are unable to attend due to last minute scheduling conflicts and the like.
The winner will receive $500, as well as the opportunity to meet and greet the festival headliner Saturday night. Prizes will be awarded for second and third place of, $200 and $100 respectively. In addition, the first place band will have the opportunity to perform an extended encore set on the Mesquite Arena Stage following the contest – with professional production services and videography.
The first round will begin promptly at 10 a.m. (if not a little earlier). The bands will be scored on a 10-point tally system on the following categories:
